Virgin Media has discussed the improvements it has made to procurement policies stating that improved communications can lead to financial savings.
In an article for supplymanagement.com, procurement specialists at the group state that changes that have been implemented since the reorganisation of the company in 2006 have led to a more focussed approach.
It is reported that as the company has been forced to change, so too has its procurement strategies and Mark Lewis, group procurement head of business support and development at Virgin Media, states that this has led to the creation of a "guiding policy".
"We still have work to do in promoting the policy to the wider business, but it's a great platform from which to grow the influence of the procurement team," he said.
In March 2006 communication company Telewest merged with rival group NTL and the combined group acquired Virgin Mobile later that year, rebranding itself as Virgin Media in February last year.
