Bristol city council has won an award from the United States' National Purchasing Institute (NPI), it has been announced.
The NPI has given Bristol city council its Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award, with eprocurement one of the areas where the council excelled.
"This award recognises the tremendous efforts of our procurement team to build a world-class capability," said John Charters, corporate procurement manager at Bristol city council.
Mr Charters added that the benefits recognised through the NPI award would now be passed on to the "wider team and community".
In addition to eprocurement, the excellence in procurement accolade recognised good practice in the areas of innovation, professionalism, productivity and leadership.
The NPI is the public sector relation of the Institute for Supply Management, formerly known as the National Association of Purchasing Management, according to the NPI website.
It was founded in 1968 and established the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement award in 1995.
