The e-procurement solutions developer Oracle is set to buy data company Tangosol, it has been reported.
TechWorld stated that the organisation, famous for its purchasing products, will use the data grid software picked up from the acquisition, for its own Oracle Fusion middleware.
Data grid software acts as middleware between servers and allows faster performance by giving users faster access to regularly used pieces of information - effectively disabling slower, unused back-end systems, it added.
Commenting on the buy-out, Oracle's vice president of development Steve Harris said it represented "a new piece of the puzzle to us".
"It's a net part of the technology stack that will enhance our ability to address the extreme transaction processing in middleware."
This week, the company announced the arrival of Oracle Application Express Release 3.0 - a free tool with Microsoft Access Migration Support as well as advanced web services and layout.
