The commitment of US businesses to support sustainable green initiatives is becoming non-negotiable, it is claimed. US Environmental Protection Agency green supplies network manager Kristin Pierre has said in a recent podcast that purchasing from green supply chains by businesses can be turned into reduced prices for buyers. His comments are taken from a podcast series on green purchasing - recently released by eyeforprocurement - and highlighted the importance of supply chain management for businesses working on sustainability issues. It is now suggested that awareness on sustainability issues has reached a tipping point with increasing numbers of US businesses lending their weight behind environmentally friendly initiatives. "For many procurement professionals, it is rapidly becoming non-negotiable to switch spending to support green activities - in accordance with their organisation's CSR [corporate social responsibility] policy," the company said. Meanwhile, Black Enterprise reports that a publication on promoting supplier diversity in development procurement released by the London Housing Federation has demonstrated methods the housing association can take to promote equality within their development procurement practices.
