Supplier enablement ranks in the top three challenges to be faced by procurement companies, it has been claimed.
According to a report from consultancy Aberdeen Group Supplier Enablement: Connecting with Supplier to Build Lasting Relationships, this can help organisations meet consumer demand in a more efficient manner, according to Supply & Demand Chain Executive.
And Andrew Bartolini, director of global supply management research at the firm, added that "supplier enablement can positively impact the business when the right technologies and practices are employed.
"We have always maintained that it's not just the initial enablement that matters, but rather the ability to enable information once and push it to multiple systems, organizations and geographies," said Tim Albinson, CEO of Aravo Solutions, the company sponsoring the research.
In the UK, defence minister Lord Drayson has announced a reshuffle of the military's procurement policy.
