Stoke-on-Trent city council has signed a new partnership agreement with Civica to implement a new integrated eprocurement and financial management system.
Integrated eprocurement systems for 1,000 council staff will provide significant efficiency savings and greater transparency in the local services sector, it was announced.
Under the £1 million, four-year deal, the council will be provided with systems that will help it to improve control over £200 million worth of annual expenditure.
The first stage of implementation is due for completion in March 2008.
Andrew Fraser, Civica Financials division managing director, said: "Stoke-on-Trent city council's decision to select a process-based solution will assist the modernisation programme giving tighter cost controls and support targeted local service improvements."
The council has recently adopted a new anthem entitled Moving Forwards Together and the city is now home to around 240,000 people, with millions of pounds being invested in revitalising the old pottery town.
