The ability for small businesses in the US to access federal contract opportunities is set to be improved with the recent unveiling of a procurement "scorecard".
Developed by the Small Business Association (SBA), the Procurement Scorecard rates national government agencies on their progress in reaching small business contracting targets and their current status with regards to making this type of venture available to smaller enterprises.
Ratings are green, yellow or red - with green denoting the sufficient amount of small business contracts.
"This scorecard will help the agencies achieve contracting results that will keep our small businesses strong," remarked Paul Dennett, administrator of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy.
Some of the aims of the new system - which will be available to view online - include increasing the accountability and transparency of small business contract procurement.
The SBA was established in 1953.
