Reading council has agreed an extension to its current IT procurement deal, it has been reported.
This comes as part of a deal the authority has struck which will see its IT service desk support, technology installation and change consultancy continue as part of an original contract established in 1999.
The extension, worth £500,000, will see Northgate experts form an iTeam for the council which will work on the transformation of the service - a system bosses at the organisation feel will benefit the community.
"Ultimately, the iTeam will enable Reading to achieve its aim of enhancing and supporting the quality of people’s lives through the effective use of technology," said councillor Jo Lovelock, lead councillor in Reading for corporate resources.
Meanwhile, News & Star has reported that a procurement officer has picked up a top award.
Joanne Leah from Allerdale council came first in the Young Procurement Professional category at the Excellence in Public Procurement Awards 2007.
