A predicted rise in the number of public sector contracts has been cited as the reason why a commercial printing factory has been saved from closure.
The Remploy site in south Manchester was set to shut down but this week it was announced that the government-sponsored firm would be keeping its doors open, reports the Manchester Evening News.
In addition to an agreement with union officials regarding working practices and management costs, a Remploy spokesperson said more work from public bodies would be given to the site.
And any contracts generated through public procurement will also be directed to the factory in Northenden, she added.
Today it was revealed that a procurement process across Europe had resulted in a contract win by Geo, which is to supply a fibre-optic network for the region of north Wales, according to the Western Mail.
