The role of procurement in business plans and the strategic development of a company is going through a "major transformation", it was said this week.
Prior to the IIR Middle East Purchasing Forum in Dubai, chairman Peter Garnett remarked on the position of procurement in a company's operation and advised firms to be confident about their choices on the matter.
In addition, workshop leader Dr Dermot Carey spoke of the "enormous competitive advantage" that can be provided by an effective eprocurement system.
And Dr Graham Smith, an expert in the sector scheduled to present a seminar at the event, is also set to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of implementing an electronic purchasing system.
"With rave reviews from previous years, this longest running, Forum in the region is an event like no other, exclusive and relevant to a purchasing manager's integral role in the organisation," added Raza Chevel, conference manager for the forum.
Other attendees booked to speak at the event include Serif Askander, head of purchasing for Nestle UAE and Dr Mark Osa Igiehorn, legal counsel for Shell UK.
