Allegheny Power has filed a power procurement plan with the Pennsylvania Public Utility commission (PPUC)

A subsidiary of Allegheny Energy, the electricity delivery business is seeking a procurement agreement that would extend beyond 2010.

The business has called for a range of procurement strategies that are subject to approval by the PPUC, but are consistent with the commission's policy statements, according to Allegheny Power.

Final rulemaking and a policy statement was issued by the PPUC earlier this year.

In the filed application to the commission, the procurement business stated: "Allegheny Power is requesting full requirements wholesale supply service generally including energy, capacity, ancillary services, renewable energy obligations and losses, bus excluding network integration transmission service."

Allegheny Energy is currently participating in the Energy Star Change a Light pledge involving a worldwide call for each individual to replace one standard bulb with an energy-saving bulb.

The campaign is backed by the US environmental protection agency, the US department of Energy and the US department of housing and urban development, Allegheny Power states on its website.
