Plans to reduce costs and times in the procurement of materials and services for the construction of British schools have been given a boost, it has emerged.
According to publicprivatefinance.com, the Building Schools for the Future project, which is said to involve the merging of various interests from councils across England, has seen the first of its joint enterprises confirmed.
It has been announced that Partnerships for Schools (PfS) has this week said that the first "super Local Education Partnership" has now been formed and will make use of a single delivery partner for each new schools project started.
PfS chief executive Tim Byles told the construction press: "There are now other authorities in the north-west, east and south-east all talking about linking things together through combined procurement," the site reports.
The first of the new multi-authority deals to close involved South Tyneside and Gateshead and was completed last month.
