The Olympic Development Authority (ODA) has confirmed that most of the procurement for the London 2012 Olympic Games is being carried out through an electronic process.
Last week the ODA released its procurement plan for the Games and Contractor Calculator has outlined that the eprocurement system showcases the sheer number of projects available for bidding.
Sebastian Coe, chairman of the London 2012 Olympic Games, has already described the breadth and range of contracts on offer.
''Business-related opportunities exist in many areas ranging from tourism, manufacturing, retailing, sports, transport, human services, security, environment, administration, hospitality, construction, IT, marketing and communications, logistics and many other sectors and industries.''
Contracts Calculator also states that many small to medium-sized enterprises will be able to secure contracts due to the accessibility of the eprocurement system.
The ODA's policy document confirms that SMEs and social enterprises are important in developing the "Olympic Promise" and that it will ensure that small companies are included in accessing ODA contracts.
This week saw the unveiling of plans for the main stadium of the Olympic Games which will be based in Stratford in East London.
