A leading hotel chain has adopted an e-procurement solution for use across its business operations.
Marriott International has opted to use software provided by Birch Street Systems to help manage procurement at over 60 Marriott and Renaissance-branded hotels.
The new software solution, which is already in place in Marriott's London-based properties, is expected to be rolled out to the rest of the chain over the coming months.
The system will enable efficient automation and financial controls as well as providing top-down purchasing controls and supplier performance metrics for corporate use. The e-procurement approach is expected to improve supply chain efficiency as well as improve buying power and track the performance of suppliers.
John Hamilton, vice president of application services at Marriott International explained that the new approach would allow user access via the internet and that the new software would be backed-up by configuration and end-user training provided by Birch Street.
In recent years, a number of other leading hotel chains including Hiltons Hotels and Marcus Hotels and Resorts have adopted e-procurement solutions to help improve their business operations.
