Decision making in global business is increasingly being influenced by companies looking to improve their green credentials, according to a new survey.
The procurement of more ecologically focussed goods and services as well as growing demand for green technology was considered by the report, which was put together by PricewaterhouseCoopers.
The study, entitled Technology Executive Connections - Going Green: Sustainable Growth Strategies, showed that around 60 per cent of respondents said that energy savings were among the most important factors in the decision-making process.
It was also revealed that 40 per cent of executives in the technology sector thought increased focus on green issues was creating more opportunities for the procurement of environmentally-friendly goods and services.
Barry Murphy, technology tax partner for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, said: "The growing demand for environmental products and services is now translating into new markets that technology businesses can address."
This week Japanese consumer electronics manufacturer Sharp also made proposals to change its procurement processes to improve its green credentials.
