Eprocurement offers "dramatic" improvements

Cambridge College, Boston, has found eprocurement to provide substantial benefits for managing and controlling purchasing orders for the main campus and across regional centres in the US and Canada.

The college has more than 200 suppliers through its new eprocurement software as it seeks to provide flexible alternatives to a diverse population of working adults through its purchasing software.

After outgrowing its initial, largely paper-intensive, internally developed purchasing system, the college hoped to find a centralised purchasing tool that could maintain price records for regular suppliers and allow departments to maintain purchasing autonomy through its IT department.

The college has since adopted Coupa's web-based eprocurement Enterprise system, which allows purchasing managers a number of tools, such as buying policies, managing catalogues and automating purchase orders, approvals, receiving and invoicing.

Cambridge College IT director Gloria Davila welcomed the new purchasing software, noting that users can now place their orders after logging on to their online system, rather than submitting orders by e-mail or telephone.

"The difference between the old and new system has been dramatic from day one, and we are looking forward to harnessing the power of additional Coupa features," she said.

With many large enterprises having purchase volumes of up to 60 per cent of their overall annual turnover, corporations can lower the cost of the goods and services by ensuring adherence with strategic initiatives through an eprocurement system, according to jcatalog.
