The use of an eprocurement portal can help hold employees accountable and in compliance with wireless mobility policies, it is claimed.
Aberdeen Group made the claim in a report entitled Wireless Mobility Expense Optimisation, which surveyed 221 industry enterprises regarding their wireless policies.
The report found that 87 per cent of Best-in-Class companies, which represented the top 20 per cent of companies surveyed, have a well-documented policy for using corporate wireless devises.
Best-in-Class organisations spend an average of $72.40 (£35) per user per month, compared with $124.50 for all others. They also requiring half the number of full-time employees to manage wireless device fulfilment and help desk support for their mobile workforces.
Commenting, Aberdeen Group research director Joe Basili said: "Two and a half times more Best-in-class organisations have visibility into an accurate, up-to-date inventory of wireless devices compared to Laggards."
"Maintaining such an inventory presents a real challenge that can be addressed, in part, through eprocurement portals for new service activity," he added.
Founded in 1988, Aberdeen Group seeks to educate buyers on the benefits of technology in business by conducting research studies across 100s of participating companies.
