A new eprocurement system has been deployed by Epping Forest district council in a bid to improve efficiency.
It has emerged that the council has implemented EGS' IDeA:marketplace software which is accessible to 200 of its staff and will be used to cut costs, improve management and make departmental spending more efficient.
According to Epping Forest district council's head of finance, Bob Palmer, the introduction of the eprocurement and electronic trading environment software could see over 500 transactions processed each month with 6,000 annual purchase orders.
"[We expect] to reap significant cost and efficiency benefits, as well as productivity gains as a direct result of moving away from a paper-based procurement system and onto an eprocurement marketplace," he said.
The IDeA:marketplace is a partnership between EGS and IDeA and was established to offer an electronic procurement solution for local government in the UK.
