The education sector is making notable financial gains and savings through the effective use of eprocurement, with many bodies using eprocurement software and systems for operational benefits.
Recent reports state that seven separate higher education institutions have signed up to use a new e-commerce exchange for eprocurement, as developed by EGS.
Using the Parabilis e-commerce exchange these organisations will embrace eprocurement as a means of improving efficiency and securing efficiency gains where possible.
To this end it is hoped that eprocurement and related procurement systems will become integral to the operations of bodies in the education sector at large.
The Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium (SUPC) is seeking to promote eprocurement further.
"We wanted to increase the usage and accessibility of collaborative contracts, reduce contract leakage, streamline procurement processes,, increase our purchasing leverage, and gain a better understanding of consortium expenditure," commented Susan Wright of the SUPC.
In related news the Malaysian government has outlined plans to use eprocurement across its operations by 2010.
