Problems with the supply chain for Boeing's forthcoming Dreamliner 787 are gradually being eradicated and the manufacturer is making progress, chief executive officer Jim McNerney has announced.
At a press conference this week, Mr McNerney said the lack of titanium and aluminium bolts - cited as part of the reason why the aircraft's initial flight has been delayed - was gradually catching up with the schedule, Reuters reports.
And the shortfall is due to the resurgence of aerospace manufacturing activity in the last few years after the contraction post-9/11.
"We are making great progress," he said. "It's still a scramble though, if I'm honest."
The delay of the Dreamliner's debut flight - now scheduled for mid-December - was announced last week and may have been pertinent to procurement departments in the aviation sector.
