A software solutions provider has won the opportunity to extend its current contract with Costa Coffee, it has emerged.
The deal means that Alphameric could be in receipt of around £2.5 million after the coffee chain agreed to continue the procurement of its stocks, orders and receipts management services.
It is thought that the decision was made to continue using Alphameric across Costa Coffee's UK and Ireland outlets due to the fact that an original deal, which was agreed in 2002, was set to expire before the end of 2009.
Commenting on the contract extension, chief information officer at Whitbread - Costa Coffee's parent company - Ben Wishart said that Alphameric had won the extensions based on the quality of their existing relationship.
"The Alphameric team has performed an excellent job from training through to implementation and support throughout a period of sustained expansion and we are delighted to extend this relationship," he said.
Last month, the chain announced Scottish author AL Kennedy as the winner of its annual Book of the Year competition for her novel - Day.
