Seven American public procurement associations have joined together to form the National Council of Public Procurement and Contracting (NCPPC).
The seven associations joined forces at the 61st annual conference and products exposition hosted by National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP). They have agreed to act as charter signatories for the new association, which will aim to improve techniques and practices for industry players.
The new federation has been a year in the planning, as officials have been meeting to decide the best course to effectively consolidating its formation.
The NCPPC will aim to promote public procurement principles and consider education, training and professional certification. It will also look at the strategic marketing of the profession and research and studies, possibly into such areas as e-procurement and other procurement technologies.
Making up the NCPPC, the seven original associations are the Florida Association of Public Purchasing Officers, the National Association of Education Procurement, the National Association of State Procurement Officers, the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing, the National Purchasing Institute, the National Contract Management Association and the California Association of Public Purchasing Officers.
