Bullhead City Council may ditch cooperative procurement in order to create a competitive purchasing market, it has been reported.
According to the Mohave Daily News, a company middleman will mediate the bidding, which the body hopes will have an effect on purchases.
This policy reversal was put in motion following a vote last week, in which the council weighed up the idea of allowing local vendors to bid, following a low offer from the Walsh Brothers to provide furniture for the local police department.
And Mike Conner, president and chief executive officer of the Bullhead Area Chamber of Commerce, told the committee that the local business community was "concerned" about the lack of support offered to them.
Earlier this month, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen city council implemented two separate procurement strategies.
Increased intra-office efficiency was thought to be the major factor behind this.
