Oman's main telecoms provider, Omantel, has decided to fully implement e-procurement solutions across its business in an effort to increase efficiency and reduce delays, according to the Khaleej Times.
The use of e-procurement is becoming fairly universal in the Sultanate, as the country looks to establish a 'digital society'. The news that their main telecoms company is looking to employ purchasing software therefore comes as a major boost to this programme.
The company has been re-training its staff and revolutionising its procurement systems over the last two months, in an effort to ready itself for the installation of its new purchasing solution.
Omani businesses have rapidly taken up electronic purchasing solutions over the last few years and Omantel believe that signing up to an e-procurement solution should deliver excellent savings across their business, according to the Khaleej Times.
"They will help expand exporters' base, save time and rationalise costs. These solutions also lead to a high-level of transparency and efficiency in purchasing processes," the newspaper reports Dr Al Wohaibi, CEO of Omantel, as saying.
